The jewel of the Mediterranean…

Sicily is the largest island in both Italy and the Mediterranean Sea. The capital city is Palermo and the population of Sicily is over 5 million.

Sicily’s most famous landmark is Mount Etna, which is the tallest and most active volcano in Europe. Nature surrounds Sicily in many ways, through mountainous landscapes and crystal blue waters.

Food is a big part of the Sicilian culture. As an island, Sicily is self sufficient and also exports much of its produce to the mainland. Typical Sicilian food includes cannoli, arancini, and cassata just to name a few.
